These are a few samples of some of the more colorful Rocky Mountain locales available to host your event. This list is by no means comprehensive. So feel free to ask us for more suggestions if you are still looking for a site. These, however, are a few of our favorites, all for different reasons. What they have in common is a unique sense of character and history and an emphasis on nature and the beauty of our region.
Evergreen Lake House
Part of the Evergreen Park & Recreation District, the Evergreen Lake House is nestled at the junction between Bear Creek and Evergreen Lake. Perfect for seasonal outdoor activities, such as boating, fishing, and ice skating, the Lake House can seat up to 125 guests with a dance floor, and 200 guests without one. With vaulted ceilings and panoramic picture windows, its beautiful rustic lodge interior can easily transform from casual to elegant, and is perfect for a wide variety of gatherings.
The Hudson Gardens
An “oasis of serenity in the midst of the City,” the Hudson Gardens and Event Center is located in the South Denver suburb of Littleton, Colo. It features 30 acres of gardens and a walking path that leisurely winds through them for more than a mile. The regions varied flora is dramatically illustrated in the multitude of plants, flowers and trees that cover the landscape, and there are three different venues from which you can choose:
- The Inn at Hudson Gardens is a charming log cabin that has tables and chairs for up to 250 guests, a bar and kitchen, two gas fireplaces, wood floors, vaulted ceilings and a patio terrace to a private backyard.
- The Garden Canopy is a year-round, high-tech tent situated alongside one of the gardens with expansive views of the Rocky Mountains. It is equipped with optional soft walls, heating, lights, plumbing, electrical outlets, tables and chairs for up to 225.
- The South Lawn is an open-air expansive lawn with a gentle slope that can accommodate up to 3,000 people.
Cherokee Ranch Castle
Yes, it really looks like a castle, and it’s located between South Denver and Castle Rock, and able to host between 80 and 120 guests. According to their website: “Cherokee Ranch and Castle is an exciting destination for history buffs, nature lovers, and anyone curious about western culture and the arts. It is a unique combination of a Scottish style castle filled with art and collections from all over the world, a working cattle ranch, and over 3,000 acres of open space. …The castle exhibits paintings by fifteenth and sixteenth century European artists, and original drawings by Sir Christopher Wren, the architect of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. Other collections on display include important literature such as works by Audubon, Dickens, and Shakespeare.”
Located approximately 20 miles southwest of Denver, along highway 285, near the town of Indian Hills, Foss Park is privately owned and run by the First Baptist Church of Denver. It offers a Rocky Mountain park setting with a small chapel and a larger conference lodge center. Perfect for weddings and receptions, birthdays, anniversaries, graduation and retirement celebrations, and meetings, workshops, and conferences.
Evergreen Memorial Park
Located between Evergreen and Conifer along highway 73, this unusual “memorial park” is a wildlife preserve, a local source for funeral and memorial services, and offers rental halls for special events. These facilities are kept separate from the internment areas, so your special affair will not feel their influence. The Great Room Chapel comfortably seats 50, while the Evergreen South Room can hold as many as 125. The historic barn is an assemblage of 5 authentic barns and has three stories, and can seat up to 250.
